October 25th, 2025 — Civitella is delighted to share that Ana Gallardo (CRF 2025) is featured in the seventeenth edition of the Bienal de Cuenca, running from October 24, 2025, through February 1, 2026.
Describing herself as a “political artist,” she has consistently used her work as a tool of transformation exploring themes of gender, aging, domestic life, and the interrogation of social and cultural norms. Over the years, she has participated in major international biennials, such as the Venice Biennale, the São Paulo Biennial, and the Bienal do Mercosul.
The Bienal de Cuenca, established in 1985 in Cuenca, Ecuador, is one of Latin America’s most respected contemporary art surveys. Known for its embrace of diverse media and its focus on socially engaged art, the biennial offers artists a platform to present work that dialogues with pressing regional and global issues.
