Gideon Appah lives and works in Accra. Drawing on childhood memories, dreams, and West African popular culture, Appah creates jewel-toned paintings that explore personal and collective histories through layered imagery and rich color. His work has been exhibited internationally, including at Pace Gallery, Gallery 1957, and the ICA at Virginia Commonwealth University, and is held in collections such as the Pinault Collection in Paris and the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto.

We are pleased to welcome back to the Castle Mouna Karray, a Tunisian-French artist working in photography and video, exploring identity, memory, borders, and displacement. She trained in sociology and the arts in Tunisia and completed an MA in Photography at Tokyo Polytechnic University, which shaped her visual language. Her long-term project Identity at Stake, begun in 2001, brings together staged encounters with women from different contexts to examine identification and difference, including a key chapter developed in Umbria during her Civitella Ranieri Fellowship in 2007.
