William Kentridge’s (CRF 1996) solo exhibition I am not me, the horse is not mine opens at Bozar Center for the Arts in Brussels, Belgium on September 18, 2026. Running through March 7, 2027, the show offers a comprehensive overview of his oeuvre from the early 1980s to the present day, highlighting the performative and collaborative nature of his practice, in which he allows art to evolve into a space for political inquiry, historical reckoning and poetic transformation. Several of his major stage productions receive special attention.
William began his artistic career at the height of the political struggle against the apartheid regime in his native South Africa. His work, which ranges from drawings, animated films and sculptures to prints, installations and videos, and theatre and opera production, bears witness to a profound commitment—at once social, political and poetic—that continues to shape his artistic practice to this day.
